  Beech

Beech is a slightly coarse wood with a fine, straight, even textured grain. It is primarily reddish-brown in color without any noticeable markings. Beech can exhibit some flecking at times.

  Oak

Red Oak is a very strong, coarse, open grained wood that ranges in color from salmon-pink to yellow-brown. It is sometimes streaked with green, yellow and black mineral deposits. Red oak can also contain worm holes, knots and wild grained veins.

  Knotty Oak

Like oak but contains various sized, open secure knots. Knotty oak is more likely to contain green, yellow and black mineral deposits, worm holes and wild grained veins.

  Maple

Hard Maple is a fine, close grained, uniform wood that is predominately white in color with a slight reddish-brown tinge. Over time, maple tends to take on somewhat of an amber tone. Occasionally it shows small, black dots that are reminiscent of birds eyes, and it can contain random black mineral streaks that are seldom more than 3/16" in width.

  Knotty Maple

Same as maple but contains various sized, open secure knots. Knotty maple is more likely to contain small black dots that are reminiscent of birds eyes and some black mineral streaks that are seldom more that 3/16" in width.

  Rustic Maple
Like maple but may contain various sized, open secure knots. May also have heavier caramel colored and black mineral streaks that are wider than 3/16" in width. Other characteristics of rustic maple include burled grain and black dots that are reminiscent of birds eyes.

  Alder

Red Alder is a fairly straight, fine grained wood with a uniform texture. It can range from light honey-brown to pinkish-brown in color. Alder may contain fine dark lines or streaks and tight pin knots may be present. While it is technically a "hardwood", alder demonstrates characteristics of softer wood species.

  Knotty Alder

Same as alder but contains various sized, open secure knots. Knotty alder is more likely to contain fine dark lines or streaks and tight pin knots.
